1.  Good Morning!

School has started and so have the Fall Redirecting Children’s Behavior™ Courses.  The energy around these courses is phenomenal!  Congratulations to Summit-Questa Montessori whose first course begins this week.  The entire staff at Summit-Questa will be RCB trained.

RCB at St. Max Pre-School in Pembroke Pines begins on Thursday, October 7th.  Limited to only twenty participants, this course is open to everyone in the community as well as St. Max families and staff.  We are registering now, so please click here if you would like to enroll.  When we announced the last course at St. Max, the interest was so high that we could not accommodate everyone, so please reserve your space early.

The Whole Hearted Adoption full-day workshop is coming up on Saturday, September 25th and the special early bird tuition (save $50) ends September 6th.  This is an inspiring course for anyone whose lives involve adoption.  Click here for more.

I am very excited to be bringing RCB into our Broward schools and to be a part of the inspiration that is the Whole Hearted Adoption workshop.  Join us in this fun journey!

6. Choices

By Wes Hopper

One of the fastest ways to take back your power over your life is to realize that there is nothing that you have to do.  Everything you do is a choice.  When we feel like we have to do something, we've lost our power.  You hear people whine, "I don't have any choice, I have to do it."  That's self defeating and wrong.  Plus, how much enthusiasm can you bring to a task that you "have to do?"

There's a better way.  When faced with any task, take a conscious look at what would happen if you did it, or if you didn't do it.  Don't do this sloppily.  Really think about it.  Be clear about which set of results you're choosing.  Then make a choice.  Once you make a choice, then be enthusiastic about it.  It'll help you do your best and it'll help you enjoy it.

Remember that you are in control of your life and you don't have to do anything.

When you operate from conscious choice, you know you're in charge.  You'll be grateful you did.

7. Youngest in Class Get ADHD Label

Nearly 1 million children may have been misdiagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD, not because they have real behavior problems, but because they're the youngest kids in their kindergarten class, researchers say.  Kids who are the youngest in their grades are 60% more likely to be diagnosed with ADHD than the oldest children.

8. Cutting Lunchbox Waste

If you empty your child’s lunchbox at day’s end and see dollar bills falling into the garbage, perhaps it’s not an illusion.  Face it, there’s a lot of money – your money – tied up in individual packages of chips, cookies, string cheese and other kid lunchtime favorites.  Julie Landry Laviolette fills us in on how to pack healthy lunches while saving money and preventing waste in her Moms Miami blog.
